§ 468 Union Organizing Cost Prohibition

Key Takeaways

  • •If a company (like electric or water) spends money to talk to workers about joining or not joining a union, they can't make customers pay for it.
  • •The company's bosses (shareholders) have to pay these costs themselves.
  • •This rule is for companies that provide things like gas, water, or electricity.

Example

A water company holds meetings to tell its workers not to join a union.

The water company can't add the cost of these meetings to your water bill. The company's owners have to pay for it instead.
