§ 40500 District Dissolution Elections

• •The board can decide to have a vote to close down the district anytime they want.
• •If at least 25% of the people who voted in the last big election sign a paper asking for a vote to close the district, the board must have that vote.
• •The paper with signatures must be given to the district clerk.

Imagine 100 people voted in the last big election in your town. If 25 of them sign a paper saying they want a vote to close the town's special district, the board must have that vote.

The board has to listen if enough people ask for a vote to close the district. They can't say no if 25% of the voters from the last big election sign the paper.
