§ 40334 Orange County Transit Tax

Key Takeaways

  • •Orange County can ask voters to add a sales tax for transit (like buses and trains).
  • •The ballot must show the exact tax percentage people are voting on.
  • •The sample ballot sent to voters must include the full details of the tax plan.

Example

Orange County wants to add a 1% sales tax to pay for better bus services.

The ballot will clearly say '1% sales tax for transit' so voters know exactly what they're voting for. If they vote 'Yes,' the tax gets added to things they buy.
