§ 40071 Board Initial Meeting Rules

• •The first meeting of the board must happen within 10 days after the election results are officially confirmed.
• •The board can decide its own rules for how meetings are run.
• •The board can choose where and when to have its meetings.

After a local election, the results are confirmed on a Monday. The newly elected board must have its first meeting by the next Wednesday (within 10 days).

The law says the board has to meet quickly after the election results are official. They can’t wait too long to start their work.
