§ 3031 Gas Producer Protection

Key Takeaways

  • •Gas companies can't bully or stop people who make gas in the state from doing their job.
  • •Gas companies can't treat people differently just because they are part of a group that makes gas.
  • •Gas companies can't pay people to leave or break their agreement with a group that makes gas.
  • •Gas companies can't lie about the money or work of people who make gas.
  • •Gas companies must try to talk and make deals fairly with groups that make gas, but they don't have to agree on everything.

Example

A gas company refuses to buy gas from a small producer because they joined a group of other small gas producers to get better prices.

This is not allowed. The gas company can't treat the small producer badly just because they joined a group.
