§ 29504 Annexation Agreement Process

Key Takeaways

  • •If people ask the board to join a new area, the board has to talk about it with them.
  • •The board must try to make a deal about joining the new area.
  • •After talking, the board has to hold a vote about it.

Example

A group of neighbors wants their small town to become part of a bigger nearby city to get better schools and roads.

The neighbors sign a request and give it to the town leaders. The leaders must then talk with the neighbors and the city leaders to make a plan. After that, they have to hold a vote so everyone in the town can decide if they want to join the city or not.
