§ 26406 City Transit Annexation Terms

Key Takeaways

  • •If a city wants to join a transit district, the board checks if it helps the district get or run transit stuff better.
  • •The board decides the rules for the city to join, like what they have to do or pay.
  • •The rules are written in a special agreement called an annexation agreement.
  • •The agreement can include things like how much the city pays or what services they get.

Example

A small city wants to join a bigger transit district to get better bus service.

The transit district's board checks if adding the city will help them run more buses or make things better. If yes, they make rules for the city to follow, like paying money or sharing bus stops. These rules are written in an agreement.

The terms and conditions of annexation shall be embodied in an annexation agreement.
