§ 25901 Tax Redemption District Payments

• •If land in a special tax district is sold because taxes weren't paid, and someone pays to get it back, the money goes to the right places.
• •The county treasurer splits the redemption money fairly between the district and others based on how much tax each was owed.
• •This only happens in districts that follow the rules in Section 25896.

Imagine your neighbor’s house was sold because they didn’t pay taxes. Later, they pay to get it back.

The money they paid doesn’t all go to one place. The county treasurer checks how much tax the special district (like a school or fire district) was owed and gives them their fair share. The rest goes to others who were owed tax money.
