§ 24358 Accident Judgment Security Funds

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about money set aside (like a safety deposit) to pay for injuries or property damage after a car crash.
  • •The money can be used to pay for court decisions, settlements, or if someone breaks a settlement deal.
  • •You have to start a lawsuit within one year of the crash to use this money.
  • •The money paid out can't be more than what the government decides is fair for injuries or property damage.

Example

If you get into a car crash and hurt someone or damage their car, this law says there’s money set aside to pay for those costs.

The money can be used to pay for a court decision, a settlement, or if someone doesn’t follow the settlement. But you have to sue within a year, and the payout can’t be more than what the government says is fair.
