§ 17302 Lake Tahoe Sewer Annexation

• •If a place in the Lake Tahoe Basin can handle sewage and move it out of the area, it can add nearby land to its district.
• •This only works if the city that owns the land isn’t already handling the sewage itself.
• •The process to add the land follows the rules from the District Reorganization Act of 1965.

A small town near Lake Tahoe has extra space in its sewage treatment plant and pipes to move waste out of the Basin. The land next to it is part of a bigger city but doesn’t have its own sewage system.

The small town can ask to add that land to its district so it can handle the sewage, but only if the bigger city isn’t already doing it or planning to.
