§ 16843 Utility Works Revenue Funding

• •If a city or town can pay for new public utility stuff (like water pipes or electricity lines) using the money they already make from those services, they can go ahead and buy or build it.
• •The city leaders get to decide when to do this after they have the plans and cost estimates ready.
• •They have to make an official decision (called an ordinance) to start the project.

A small town wants to add new water pipes to give clean water to more houses.

If the town already makes enough money from water bills to pay for the new pipes (plus all their other bills), the town leaders can vote to start the project right away. They don’t have to wait or ask for extra money from people.
