§ 15734 Petition Signature Sufficiency

Key Takeaways

  • •If enough people sign a petition, small mistakes in the petition won’t make it invalid.
  • •The petition can still work even if the title or notice has little errors.
  • •The main thing is that there are enough valid signatures.

Example

A group of neighbors wants to add a stop sign at a busy corner. They collect signatures on a petition, but the title says 'Stop Sign Request' instead of 'Traffic Safety Petition.'

Even though the title isn’t perfect, the petition can still be accepted if enough neighbors signed it. The small mistake in the title doesn’t ruin the whole thing.
