§ 107002 Gold Coast Transit Definitions

This law defines the special words used when talking about the Gold Coast Transit District, like who the agency is, who can be members, and what 'transit' means.

Key Takeaways

  • •The agency called Gold Coast Transit runs the transit district.
  • •Only Ventura County and its cities (like Oxnard, Ventura, Port Hueneme, Ojai) can be members of the district.
  • •The board of directors runs the district, and a director is any voting board member.
  • •‘Transit’ means moving people and their bags, and ‘transit facilities’ are all the stuff the district owns to do that.

Example

The city of Ojai wants to join the Gold Coast Transit District so its buses can be part of the regional system.

Because the law says only Ventura County and its cities can be members, Ojai can join and get access to the transit facilities and services that the district provides.
