§ 105301 Service Zone Creation Process

This law explains how cities or counties can start the process to create a special area called a 'service zone' where they can provide extra services or improvements.

Key Takeaways

  • •Cities or counties can start the process to create a service zone by passing a resolution.
  • •The resolution must explain why the service zone is needed and describe its boundaries.
  • •If the whole city or county is included, they can just use the name instead of describing boundaries.
  • •A copy of the resolution must be sent to the district secretary.

Example

A city wants to improve a neighborhood by adding better streetlights, sidewalks, and parks.

The city council can pass a resolution saying they want to create a service zone for that neighborhood. They describe the area's boundaries and explain why it's needed, then send a copy of this decision to the district secretary.
