§ 103053 District Exemption From Knox-Nisbet

This law says the district cannot be covered by the Knox‑Nisbet Act, except when the district is being dissolved under Chapter 8.

Key Takeaways

  • •The district is not covered by the Knox‑Nisbet Act.
  • •The only exception is for dissolution proceedings under Chapter 8.
  • •All other parts of the Knox‑Nisbet Act do not apply to the district.

Example

The district wants to sue a contractor for a breach of contract using the Knox‑Nisbet Act.

Because the district is not subject to the Knox‑Nisbet Act, it cannot use that law to sue the contractor. The only time the Act could apply is if the district were being dissolved, which is a special case under Chapter 8.
