§ 100115 Vta General Powers

• •The VTA can borrow powers from any law that applies to transit districts or public agencies.
• •Those borrowed powers must fit the type of agency the VTA is.
• •The VTA cannot do anything that this part of the law specifically says it cannot do.

Another state law lets transit agencies buy new buses using a special grant. The VTA can also buy new buses with that grant, but only if this part doesn’t specifically say they can’t use that grant for buses.

Because the grant is a power given to transit agencies, the VTA is allowed to use it, unless this part has a rule that says they can’t use that kind of money for buses.
