§ 8350 Cemetery Authority Business Powers

Key Takeaways

  • •Cemetery authorities can do business stuff like other companies.
  • •They can borrow money if they need to, but only as much as the law allows.
  • •They can use their property (like land) to promise they'll pay the money back.

Example

A cemetery needs money to fix up old graves and build new ones.

They can take out a loan from a bank, just like a business would. To make sure the bank gets its money back, the cemetery can use its land as a promise (like when you promise your car to the bank if you don’t pay your car loan).
