§ 51602 Fair Housing Loan Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Anyone can live in a house built with a government-backed loan, no matter their race, religion, or family type.
  • •Builders and workers on these houses can't treat people unfairly when hiring, based on things like race or gender.
  • •Senior housing can still have age rules, like only allowing older people to live there.
  • •The builder must promise they followed these rules to get the loan.

Example

A family with kids wants to rent a house that was built using a government-backed loan.

The landlord can't say 'no kids allowed' unless it's a special senior housing place. If they do, they're breaking the rules.
