§ 51305 Rehabilitation Area Financial Agreements

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can help fix up old or run-down areas by working with local groups.
  • •They can do this by buying special bonds or notes to fund the work.
  • •They can also give money directly to help fix up homes or buildings.
  • •Sometimes, they can insure loans to make sure the money is safe.

Example

A neighborhood has many old houses that need repairs, but people can't afford to fix them up.

The government can team up with the city to give money or loans to help people repair their homes. They might also buy special bonds to pay for the work or insure loans so banks feel safe lending money.
