§ 4835 Annexation Resolution Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The district board must make a plan to add new land to their area.
  • •The plan must show the borders of the new land and say how it will help.
  • •They must set a meeting date (between 15-60 days later) to talk about the plan.
  • •People who don’t like the plan can write a protest and give it to the clerk before the meeting.

Example

A small town wants to add a nearby neighborhood to their water district.

The town leaders must draw a map of the neighborhood, explain why it’s good to add it (like better water service), and set a meeting date. If someone in the neighborhood doesn’t want to join, they can write a letter to the town clerk before the meeting to say no.
