§ 44085 Emission Credit Generation Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Companies can earn 'credits' for reducing pollution from cars and trucks.
  • •These credits can be used to meet pollution rules instead of cutting emissions in other ways.
  • •The local air district decides how these credits can be used.

Example

A bus company switches its old buses to electric ones, which pollute less.

The company gets 'credits' for reducing pollution. They can use these credits to show they’re following clean air rules, even if some of their other vehicles still pollute a little.
