§ 43867 Alternative Fuel Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •Alternative fuel is any fuel that is not just regular gas, like electricity, ethanol, or even gas mixed with other stuff like E85.
  • •The state checks if these fuels are clean enough to meet rules about pollution from cars.
  • •Full fuel-cycle assessment means looking at every step of a fuel's life—from how it's made to how it's used in cars—to see how it affects the environment and health.

Example

If you drive a car that uses electricity instead of gas, the state wants to make sure that electricity is clean and doesn't pollute too much.

The law says the state checks if fuels like electricity are clean enough for cars. They look at everything, like how the electricity is made and how it powers the car, to make sure it’s good for the environment.
