§ 41809 Russian Thistle Burning Permits

Key Takeaways

  • •You can burn Russian thistle (a type of weed) outside, but only if someone important says it's okay.
  • •The people who can say it's okay are fire chiefs, forestry bosses, agriculture officers, or air pollution officers.
  • •You can't just burn it whenever you want—you need permission first.

Example

A farmer has a field full of Russian thistle and wants to burn it to get rid of the weeds.

The farmer can't just light a fire. They have to ask the local fire chief or another official for permission first. If they don't get permission and burn it anyway, they could get in trouble.
