§ 40486 Employee Benefits Transfer Rights

Key Takeaways

  • •If you worked for the Southern California Air Pollution Control District and then got a job at the South Coast District, your old job time counts for your new job.
  • •Your old job benefits like sick days, vacation, and retirement stay the same when you move to the new job.
  • •This only works if you went straight from the old job to the new job without a break.

Example

John worked at the Southern California Air Pollution Control District for 5 years. Then he got a job at the South Coast District right away.

John’s 5 years at his old job count for his new job. He keeps all his sick days, vacation time, and retirement benefits from his old job.
