§ 40424 South Coast Board Quorum

Key Takeaways

  • •Usually, 7 members of the board must be present to make any official decisions.
  • •If 2 or more spots on the board are empty, then only 6 members need to be present to make decisions.
  • •Empty spots on the board don’t count when they vote on something.

Example

Imagine a school club where usually 7 kids need to be at the meeting to decide on a new rule.

If 2 kids are missing from the club for a long time, then only 6 kids need to be there to decide on the new rule. The missing kids’ votes don’t count.
