§ 33751 Urban Housing Construction Financing

Key Takeaways

  • •This law helps build more houses in cities where there aren't enough.
  • •It wants people of all income levels to live in cities, making them more balanced.
  • •It tries to stop cities from spreading too much, saving energy and land.
  • •It creates more jobs in cities and helps the city make more money from taxes.

Example

A city like Los Angeles has very few empty apartments, and rents are super high. Many people have to move far away to find a cheaper place.

This law helps builders get money to make new apartments in the city. That means more places to live, so rent might go down, and people don’t have to move far away. It also gives jobs to construction workers and helps the city collect more taxes from the new buildings.

§ 33751 Urban Housing Construction Financing

The Legislature further finds and determines that a program to provide residential construction financing would accomplish the following: (a)  Facilitate increasing the supply of urban housing and ease the housing shortage that exists in many parts of the state. (b)  Encourage Californians of all social and economic positions to reinhabit urban areas, thereby rendering these areas more socially balanced and economically self-sufficient. (c)  Reduce pressures for suburbanization and thereby mitigate many of the problems caused by urban migration, including inefficient use of scarce energy resources and urban sprawl. (d)  Stimulate urban building and construction activity and thereby increase urban employment and improve the urban tax base. (Added by Stats. 1975, Ch. 48.)
