§ 25152 Hazardous Waste Regulation Hearings

Key Takeaways

  • •Before making rules about dangerous waste, the government must hold a public meeting in Sacramento or near the affected area.
  • •People can speak at the meeting to share their thoughts or concerns about the rules.
  • •The government can change the rules based on what people say at the meeting.
  • •The rules can only be finalized after the meeting and any needed changes.

Example

A company wants to build a new factory that will handle dangerous chemicals.

The government must hold a public meeting near the factory site so people can say if they think the rules for handling the chemicals are safe or not. If many people are worried about water pollution, the government might add stricter rules to protect the water before approving the factory’s plans.
