§ 13901 Emergency Fire District Funding

Key Takeaways

  • •If there's a big emergency (like a huge fire or bad storm), the local fire district can use extra money they have to help people.
  • •The district leaders must agree (at least two-thirds of them) to use this extra money.
  • •The money must be used for important things like firefighting, ambulances, or saving people in danger.
  • •This money wasn't planned for in the regular budget, but they can use it now because of the emergency.

Example

A big wildfire starts near a town, and the fire department needs more trucks and gear to fight it.

The fire district can vote to use extra money they have saved to buy more hoses, pay firefighters to work longer, or get more ambulances to help hurt people.
