§ 13104 Fire Marshal Enforcement Duties

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Fire Marshal helps enforce fire safety laws and rules.
  • •They protect property in danger from fires, except for forest, brush, or grain fires.
  • •They also don’t take over if a city, town, or fire district already has its own fire department handling the fire.

Example

A big fire starts in a shopping mall in a small town with no fire department.

The State Fire Marshal will step in to help put out the fire and protect the mall and nearby buildings. But if the fire happens in a city with its own fire department, the State Fire Marshal won’t take over.
