§ 124885 Grant Application And Allocation

Key Takeaways

  • •The government gives out money (grants) every year to help groups do important work, but no group can get more than $60,000 in one year.
  • •Groups can ask for the money again next year, but they have to apply again and follow the same rules as new applicants.
  • •If a group gets the money, they have to sign a contract saying what they’ll do with it and how they’ll do it.
  • •The group can get some of the money early (up to 25% of the total) to help them start their work.

Example

A small health clinic wants money to give free check-ups to kids in a poor neighborhood.

The clinic can apply for a grant up to $60,000. If they get it, they have to sign a contract saying they’ll use the money for check-ups. They might get $15,000 (25%) upfront to buy supplies, but they have to apply again next year if they want more money.

However, grants may be renewed on an annual basis, subject to the submission and review of an annual renewal application, that shall be considered with, and subject to the same priorities as, new applications. No applicant shall receive more than one grant in any year. Each grant shall be subject to a contract between the department and the grantee prescribing the services to be provided by the grantee thereunder and other conditions of the grant.
