§ 117040 Public Fishing Reservoirs

• •Cities or public agencies can let people fish in reservoirs used for drinking water.
• •They can open all or part of the reservoir and the land around it for fishing.
• •This rule has been in place since 1996.

A city has a big lake where they get drinking water from. They decide to let people fish in half of the lake on weekends.

The city can do this because the law says they can open parts of the reservoir for fishing even if it's used for drinking water.
