§ 116345 Local Health Officer Reporting

Key Takeaways

  • •Local health officers must send a monthly report to the state about how well public water systems are following the rules.
  • •The state checks the local health officer's water system program every three years to make sure they are doing their job right.
  • •After the check, the state tells the local health officer and the local government what they found and what should be improved.

Example

Imagine your town's health officer is in charge of making sure the water you drink is safe. Every month, they have to send a report to the state saying if the water is clean and follows the rules.

The state also checks the health officer's work every three years. If they find something wrong, like the water isn't being tested enough, they tell the health officer and the town leaders how to fix it.
