§ 114427 Mercado La Paloma Exemption

Key Takeaways

  • •Mercado La Paloma in Los Angeles doesn't have to follow some food safety rules because it meets special conditions.
  • •All food areas must have a roof covering the food.
  • •Food areas must be closed on at least two sides.
  • •The market must always control the food areas and protect food when closed.

Example

A food stall at Mercado La Paloma leaves food uncovered outside.

This market doesn’t have to follow the usual food safety rules because it has roofs over food, walls on two sides, and keeps everything clean and controlled. But if they leave food uncovered, they could still get in trouble for breaking health codes.
