§ 106955 Shoe Fitting X-Ray Ban

This law says you can't use X‑ray machines on shoes or on people's feet unless you are a licensed doctor, podiatrist, chiropractor, or a tech working right under them.

Key Takeaways

  • •Only licensed medical professionals (or their supervised techs) can use X‑ray equipment on footwear or feet.
  • •Anyone else who does it can be charged with a misdemeanor.
  • •The rule started on Jan 1 1996.

Example

A shoe store puts an X‑ray scanner on the floor to look inside customers' shoes.

Because the store workers aren't doctors or supervised by doctors, using the X‑ray on the shoes would break the law.
