§ 106630 Environmental Health Specialist Registration

This law lets anyone apply to be registered as an environmental health specialist, tells the department how fast they must review and decide on the application, and sets the fees for getting duplicate certificates or cards.

Key Takeaways

  • •You must send a completed form, proof you passed the exam, and the first registration fee to apply.
  • •The department must tell you within 15 working days if your application is complete or missing something.
  • •A decision on a complete application must be made within 3 calendar days.
  • •A duplicate certificate costs $10 and a duplicate card costs $5.

Example

Maria passes the required exam, sends her completed form and the first registration fee to the department, and gets her certificate. A year later she loses her registration card and asks for a new one.

Maria’s first application is accepted because she sent the form, exam proof, and fee. The department had to tell her within 15 working days if anything was missing and then decide within 3 calendar days. To get a new card, she pays the $5 duplicate‑card fee.

How to Calculate

Total duplicate cost = Certificate duplicate fee ($10) + Card duplicate fee ($5)

  1. Identify the fee for a duplicate certificate ($10).
  2. Identify the fee for a duplicate registration card ($5).
  3. Add the two amounts together: $10 + $5 = $15.

John needs both a new certificate and a new card after they were stolen.

Result: John must pay $15 in total for the duplicates.
