§ 105105 Geriatric Medicine Education Programs

This law tells the University of California to set up programs that teach students and the public how to care for older people and to create community services for them.

Key Takeaways

  • •UC must create academic programs focused on older‑patient care.
  • •The programs must involve many types of experts (doctors, nurses, social workers, etc.).
  • •Programs can include classes, continuing education, nursing‑home training, research on best practices, interdisciplinary training, and new care sites for seniors.

Example

A UC medical school starts a class on caring for seniors, offers workshops for doctors and nurses, and runs a teaching nursing home where students learn hands‑on care for elderly residents.

Because the law requires UC to create geriatric education and service programs, the school can add those classes, workshops, and the nursing‑home training as part of its curriculum.
