§ 103630 Insufficient Application Information Fee

If you ask for a certified copy of a record and don’t give enough info, and then you ignore a written request for more info for 30 days, the state keeps the money you paid.

Key Takeaways

  • •Give complete information when you apply for a certified copy.
  • •If the registrar asks for more info, reply within 30 days.
  • •If you don’t reply in time, the fee you paid is not returned.

Example

Jane wants a certified copy of her marriage license but only writes her name on the form. The State Registrar sends her a letter asking for her full name, date of marriage, and other details. Jane never replies.

Because Jane didn’t give the needed details and didn’t answer the registrar’s request within 30 days, the registrar does not give her the copy and keeps the fee she paid.
