§ 102700 Adoption Court Report Filing

This law says that when a child is adopted, the court's adoption report is added to the child's original birth record, and that birth record stays in the state's official records.

Key Takeaways

  • •The adoption report is filed with the original birth record.
  • •The original birth record stays part of the State Registrar's records.
  • •This creates a permanent combined record of birth and adoption.

Example

A family adopts a baby, and the court finishes the adoption.

The court's adoption paperwork is filed together with the baby's original birth certificate, and that birth certificate remains in the state's records so there is a permanent record of both the birth and the adoption.
