§ 101840 County Hospital System Integration

This law lets the county board make rules so a county hospital can join with other hospitals in a network that lets patients pick any hospital they want, and those rules kick in when the hospital or its care centers are transferred to the hospital authority.

Key Takeaways

  • •The board of supervisors can create rules for hospital integration.
  • •The integrated system must let patients freely choose any hospital.
  • •These rules apply when General Hospital or Family Care Centers are transferred to the hospital authority.

Example

The county moves ownership of its General Hospital to the local hospital authority.

Because of this law, the county board can now set rules that let General Hospital work together with nearby private hospitals, and patients can choose whichever hospital they prefer for their care.
