§ 101305 County Public Health Eligibility

This law says that if a county could get local public health services before 1988, it can keep getting them even if its population later grows above 50,000.

Key Takeaways

  • •Eligibility is locked in based on the county's status on Jan 1 1988.
  • •A later population increase past 50,000 does not remove the county's eligibility.
  • •Only counties that were already eligible before that date are covered.

Example

County A had 48,000 residents in 1987 and qualified for health services. By 1995 its population rose to 62,000.

Even though County A now has more than 50,000 people, it still gets the health services because it was already eligible on Jan 1 1988.
