§ 99503 State Employee Travel Reports

Key Takeaways

  • •If you work for the state and travel out of the country for work, you must write a report about your trip within 30 days.
  • •The report should include where you went, who you met, and what you did.
  • •If your trip is about trade or business for California, you must also send a copy to the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development.
  • •You don’t need to write the report if the Governor, a lawmaker, or a top state official was with you on the trip.

Example

A state worker goes to a meeting in Canada to talk about trade deals for California.

When they get back, they have 30 days to write a report about the trip, including who they met and what they talked about. They must send this report to their boss and also to the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development because it’s about trade.
