§ 9508 Bill Transmission To Governor

Key Takeaways

  • •When a new law is written and approved by the Legislature, it gets sent to the Governor to sign.
  • •If the law changes the state constitution or is a special agreement between the Senate and Assembly, it also goes to the Governor first.
  • •After the Governor sees it, these special laws or changes get saved in the Secretary of State’s office.

Example

Imagine your school makes a new rule that everyone must wear red shirts on Fridays. The teachers all agree on it, but before it becomes official, it has to be sent to the principal for approval.

Just like the school rule, when the Legislature makes a new law or a big change, it has to go to the Governor first. If it’s a really important change, like to the state constitution, it gets saved in a special office after the Governor sees it.
