§ 91010 Audit Investigation Timing Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't ask the civil prosecutor to take action based on certain reports until an audit or investigation can start.
  • •This rule applies to reports required by Chapter 4 of the law.
  • •The timing for when you can ask for action is tied to when an audit or investigation could begin under another part of the law (Section 90002).

Example

Imagine your neighbor complains about how a local politician spent campaign money.

You can't ask the prosecutor to look into it right away. You have to wait until the time when an official audit or investigation could start. This makes sure everything is checked properly before any legal action is taken.
