§ 8949 Right To Respond

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone's name comes up in a committee meeting and they think bad things were said about them, they can tell their side of the story.
  • •The committee can let them speak in person or just write down what happened.
  • •They can only talk about the stuff that was said about them, not other things.

Example

Imagine your teacher is talking to the principal about a problem at school, and they say something bad about you that isn't true.

You can ask to talk to them too, to tell your side of the story. The principal can let you talk in person or write it down. You can only talk about what they said about you, not other stuff.
