§ 87410 Post-Service Placement Agent Ban

Key Takeaways

  • •If you work on the board or in a high-up job for the state's retirement systems, you can't take money to help with investments for 10 years after you leave.
  • •This rule applies to both the Public Employees’ Retirement System and the State Teachers’ Retirement System.
  • •It’s about stopping people from using their old job connections to make money unfairly.

Example

A person who used to be on the board of the Public Employees’ Retirement System gets offered money to help a company invest with the system.

This person cannot take the money because they left their job less than 10 years ago, and the law says they can’t do this kind of work for pay during that time.
