§ 8249 Commission Advisory Role Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •The commission only gives advice, it doesn’t make the rules.
  • •The state or the people talking don’t have to do what the commission says.
  • •If they want to use the commission’s ideas, they need to make a new law first.

Example

Imagine a group of teachers and school leaders meet to talk about how to make schools better. They ask a special group (the commission) for advice.

The commission gives ideas, like 'have shorter school days,' but the teachers and leaders don’t have to do it. If they like the idea, they have to make a new rule or law to actually change the school days.
