§ 7001 Scenic Land Conservation Funding

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can buy or get land to keep it looking nice and natural.
  • •They can use public money to do this.
  • •They can also buy land and then sell or rent it back to people, but with rules to keep the land scenic.

Example

Imagine there's a beautiful hill with lots of trees and a great view that everyone loves. A company wants to build a big mall there, which would ruin the view.

The government can step in and buy that hill to stop the mall from being built. They can use public money to do this. They might even buy the hill and then rent it back to the original owner, but with rules saying no buildings can be put up, so the hill stays beautiful.
