§ 66621 Legislative Commission Participation

Key Takeaways

  • •Two lawmakers, one from the Senate and one from the Assembly, will work with a special group (commission) to help with their tasks.
  • •These lawmakers can pick someone else to take their place if they can't be there, but that person must also be a lawmaker.
  • •The two lawmakers (or their replacements) act like a special team to investigate things related to this law.

Example

Imagine a group is formed to study how to make schools safer. A senator and an assembly member are chosen to work with this group.

These two lawmakers can join meetings and help the group with their work. If the senator is too busy, they can ask another senator to go instead. Together, they act like a special team to look into school safety issues.
