§ 66472 Map Correction Filing Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If a map of land is changed or fixed, the new version must be filed with the county recorder.
  • •The county recorder will update the records to show who owns the land and what changes were made.
  • •Once the new map is filed, everyone must treat it as the correct version, even if they didn’t see the changes.

Example

A neighborhood’s old map shows a park in the wrong spot. The city fixes the map to show the park’s real location.

The fixed map is sent to the county recorder, who updates the records. Now, everyone must use the new map, and no one can say they didn’t know the park was moved.
