§ 64824 Bond Program Audit Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Every two years, the agency must hire someone outside the agency to check their money and work.
  • •The check-up must follow rules set by the Controller.
  • •The results of the check-up must be shared with the Controller, the Director of Finance, and the Joint Legislative Budget Committee.
  • •If the Governor or the Legislature asks, another group called the Bureau of State Audits can also check the agency's money and work.

Example

Imagine you have a lemonade stand, and every two years, your parents hire a neighbor to check if you're spending your money wisely and making good lemonade.

Just like the neighbor checks your lemonade stand, the agency gets checked to make sure they're using their money right and doing their job well. The results are shared with important people, like how you might tell your parents and siblings about the neighbor's findings.
